Repertoire

As the Baroque and Classical repertoire is extremely extensive and diverse, there are many possible programme variants (also for different line-ups: string orchestra alone, string orchestra with wind instruments, oratorio music with the participation of one or more vocalists, a choir or a soloist-instrumentalist). These can be “theme” concerts, e.g. concerts built around a composer, Passion concerts, as well as concerts presenting one or several trends in music of a given period (e.g. French music from the times of Louis XIV, virtuoso music of the Italian Baroque, etc.).
The concerts are narrated by Zbigniew Pilch, who in an interesting way introduces the listeners to the mysteries, nooks and crannies of the presented music, paying attention to important details and intriguing “flavours” of the programme, which is always greatly appreciated by the audience.

Le bourgeois gentilhomme by Lully at the court of Louis XIV
J.-B. Lully – music for Le bourgeois gentilhomme LWV 43
Music written in 1670 for Molière’s famous comedy Le bourgeois gentilhomme.
In the original version, the dialogues on stage were accompanied by a full orchestra: 24 Violins of the King (Les vingt-quatre violons du Roy), including wind instruments and percussion. The way of presenting the play made it similar to the opera. During the concert, an ensemble performs a suite of dances and instrumental pieces from the comedy Le bourgeois gentilhomme in a way very similar to how this music sounded in the times of Lully, Molière and King Louis XIV. Traditional historical instruments (with percussion, of course) may be accompanied by a pair of dancers, who will present original Baroque dances choreographed on the basis of 17th-century records.

The most frequently listened to and performed concertos from the collection Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’inventione by Antonio Vivaldi, i.e. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, La tempesta and Il piacere. They will be presented according to historical performance practice, fully revealing the composing style of the Italian genius. It is a perfectly composed, multicoloured programme music presenting the sounds of nature, various animals, as well as the sounds of a battle or a storm. Simply The Four Seasons.
The programme can be used in educational activities as The Four Seasons.

Zbigniew Pilch also has numerous solo violin recitals in his repertoire.
